Beach Sa Mesquida

Sa Mesquida is a small bay divided into two parts by the Punta de Sa Torre: the rocky section is called Cala Mesquida or Sa Raconada Vella and the sandy is called Sa Mesquida.

It is a large beach of fine, white sand. On both beaches you will enjoy transparent water with a sea bottom of sand, rock and Posidonia, which is highly recommended for diving. In the summer, there are life guards on the approximately 300 meter long beach and a section with buoys for water sports such as paddle surf or kayak. In the nearby settlement you will find restaurants with a rich gastronomic offer. From the shore you have a good view of the Illots d'en Mesquida islands. Thanks to its proximity to Maó the beach is very much visited by the inhabitants of the village; they appreciate the easy access and the beauty of the landscape. The place is also of historical importance: in the 18th century the Spanish-French troops landed here to recapture Menorca. However, they did not succeed in expulsing the British occupiers. After the attack, the British built eleven watchtowers to protect the coast, like the one that crowns the rocky Punta de Sa Torre.

To reach Sa Mesquida from Maó (7.1 km), you must follow the road signs to the Urbanización de Sa Mesquida. You can park your car near the beach.
