Cove Cales Coves

This beach, also known as Cales Coves or Cala Coves, is located between the Puntas de Ponent and de Llevant, near the settlements of Cala En Porter and Son Vitamina.

The beach is at the end of a deep and impressive sea bay, which forms two separate and untouched bays. The shore - 50 meters long and 30 meters wide - is protected by high vertical cliffs, which used the first settlers of the island of Menorca as necropolis in the Bronze Age up to the Roman conquest. Witnesses are the ninety graves hewn in the rocks, the largest accumulation of burial caves on the island. With appropriate shoes, you can reach these tombs across the coast and watch them through the iron lattices. On one side of the beach you can see isolated fishermen sheds, because the beach is part of a very safe and protected harbor, especially when the north wind blows.

To reach the beach from Alaior (11.6 km) or Maó (16.1 km), follow the road signs to Cala En Porter and then the junction for Cales Coves; this last section is not asphalted. From the small car park you have to walk about 20 minutes on the path leading to the beach, with suitable footwear. Do not forget to take some food and drink, as the beach does not provide any services.
