Cove Pedrera

At only 1 km from the center of Es Castell, in the deep indentation that reaches the Port de Maó, is this quiet rocky beach, also known as Cala Padera.

Its location allows its clean waters to be almost always calm, without the bother blowing winds. It is a small cove of about 50 meters, with a nice coast which invites you to dive under the cliffs. High up on the cliffs are the residences Santa Ana and Sol del Este. Near the beach is the Cala Padera Park, with a multifunctional playground for children and a bowling alley and an outdoor gym for adults. Nearby the visitor can see the remains of the British occupation from the 18th century. At that time Es Castell received the name Georgetown, in honor of King George III. The present name derives from the Castell de San Felip at the port entrance. Since it is the easternmost point of Menorca and the whole of Spain, the island offers some of the most beautiful sunsets in the entire Mediterranean.

You can easily reach Cala Pedrera from Maó. Drive along the ME-6 to the cemetery and then continue along the beach promenade of the Urbanización Sol del Este. It takes you directly to the beach.
