A wonderful natural park, with salt lakes, Posidonia sea grass and magnificent flamingos
The ses Salines de Ibiza and Formentera Nature Park is located between the south of Ibiza and the north of Formentera; it covers 2,800 hectares between Ibiza and Sant Josep de sa Talaia and over 13,000 hectares of sea in Ses Salines and the Es Freus Strait, between both islands.
Let the culture, the landscape of the white salt mountains and the vegetation adapted to the salt water on the banks of the salt ponds impact on you. The seabed is covered by Posidonia oceánica; it is an extremely important ecosystem responsible for the crystalline waters of Formentera. In this earthly paradise, a nature reserve for birds, thousands of flamingos, herons and a variety of migratory birds are concentrated.
Six hundred years before Christ's birth, the visionary Phoenicians began exploiting these salt mines. In our days this extraordinary product with the taste of the Mediterranean is still exported to different countries of the world.
