True treasures with an age of more than 4000 years, scattered all over the island
Menorca has a large variety of megalithic buildings that reveal the way of life and the traditions of prehistoric island inhabitants; some of these buildings would be used as a dwelling-house, watchtower or guard-tower, such as the Talayots or the spectacular tombstones carved in stone, such as the hipogeos, taulas or navetas, a kind of construction that can only be found in Menorca.
The thousand years of human presence on Menorca have come to be called the pre-Talayotic period. This term encompasses a culture that spans from the Neolithic until the Early Bronze Age, with an economy based on livestock and incipient agriculture. The most visible remains of this period are the megaliths (megalithic gravesites and naveta homes) and hypogea.
Capture the history with your own hands and visit the incredible archaeological finds; One of the most visited is the emblematic Naveta des Tudons, the Necrópolis de Calescoves in a beautiful natural environment, the talayotic settlement of Torre d'en Galmés, one of the largest on the island, and also do not miss the settlements Talatà de Dalt, Binissafullet or Trepucó. The most spectacular necropolis is the one in Cala Morell.
