Peace or vivacity: diversity will surprise you!
Menorca is a quiet island with extraordinary natural landscapes; a destination with a complete leisure offer for the family that extends far beyond the summer months. On this island you can enjoy the sandy beaches, but you also have the opportunity to walk in the streets of the villages, to visit monuments, to make excursions, to sail and to enjoy the good cuisine.
A trip with the family to Menorca is always a good decision. The pleasant climate of the island and the calm waters of the beaches are the ideal scenario for visiting the island with children. You can always find the most sheltered beach in the wind shadow on the island. There the children can play for hours in the water and on the sand. And if they are slightly bigger, a pair of diving glasses and a snorkel is essential.
There are many sandy beaches and we would like to list only some of the most famous ones. On the north coast, Cala Morell, Cala Algaiarens, Cala Pregonda, Fornells and Cala Mesquida. On the south coast, Son Saura, Cala en Turqueta, Macarelleta, Binigaus, Cala Galdana and Cala Mitjana. They are all accessible by car. If you want to walk a bit: the island is full of small, hidden beaches, such as Trebalúger in the south or Cala Pilar and Cala Pregonda in the north (about 45 minutes on foot), among many others of great beauty.
The beaches are a winning choice, but there are many other incentives in Menorca that make this island a destination for families, such as the s'Albufera of the Gray Natural Park in the East - a wetland area of high ecological value and an ideal destination for children. The park has an interpretative center for bird watching, workshops and other events.
But there are many more leisure activities on Menorca. A stroll through the streets of Ciutadella and Maó, or a stop on one of the terraces to watch the hustle and bustle of the port is great experiences. Other recommended activities with the family are the ascent of Monte Toro, the island´s highest mountain on the island; a visit to the archaeological finds (Naveta de Tudon, Taula de Torralba); and the lighthouses of Favàritx (north-east), Artrutx (south-west) and Punta Nati (north-west).
As an ideal complement to a visit with the family, you can also visit Menorca's farms where you can stay, visit the traditional llocs or farms where you can watch how the Mahón-Menorca cheese is produced or the Cala'n Bosch Water park (Aquarock) and family restaurants. Let's go to Menorca!
