Wine tourism among vineyards and wineries in Minorca
Minorca has a rich wine-growing heritage and although it hasn’t been its main agricultural activity, it offers a unique experience for wine lovers. The island has been famous for its wine since ancient times, with historical references dating back to the 13th century. In the 18th century, production expanded thanks to British occupation, which encouraged cultivation and export.
Today, eight wineries produce wine under the denomination "Vi de la terra Illa de Menorca". Some of them offer a tasting and visit experience to promote the gastronomic heritage of the Minorcans.
Binifadet, in the south-east, combines modern architecture and fresh wines on its elegant terrace. Hort de Sant Patrici, in Ferreries, offers a comprehensive experience with its wines and artisan cheeses. Torralbenc, in Alaior, stands out for its winemaking in a restored 19th century estate. Each winery reflects the unique character of Minorca's terroir and its winemaking heritage.
