Minorca is the island of calm, tranquillity and nature in its purest state – even under the sea. Since the biosphere reserve was extended to the sea in 2019, the island's reserve has grown from 70,000 to 500,000 protected hectares, making it the biosphere reserve with the largest protected marine area in the Mediterranean. 

This is why Minorca's two marine reserves can be considered a reserve within a reserve: two hotspots which, in addition to their spectacular beauty, are a veritable explosion of marine wildlife.
